Five additional recall campaigns were approved by Elections Alberta this morning targeting UCP MLAs Glenn van Dijken in Athabasca-Barrhead-Westlock, Jackie Lovely in Camrose, Nathan Neudorf in Lethbridge-East, Jason Stephan in Red Deer-South, and Searle Turton in Spruce Grove-Stony Plain. That brings the total number of current recall campaigns to 14.
MLA Nally should absolutely be recalled with that response showing he used privileged info from Elections AB on voting records.... these UCP clowns truly think they are untouchable....love the fact they are feeling rattled - would like to see them rattled right out of office.
Minister Dale Nally broke Elections Canada privacy rules regarding accessing voters lists when he publicly released Mr. Eberhart's name and discussed his voting habits whether true or false. Candidates for elections may access voter lists for the purposes of campaigning, but the lists are to be locked up when not in use and the contents are to remain private.
As such he should be reported to Elections Alberta since one's right to voter privacy is supposed to be protected at all costs.
No wonder Nally became closed-lipped when asked how he got the information he made public. In my opinion this is another good reason to recall Minister Nally, AND possibly a good case for discipline from Elections Alberta and his own party. I believe Mr. Eberhart would have a very good case for taking Nally to task for what be did when he publicly released Eberhart's private, protected information that wasn't even truthful.
Elections Canada also states anyone can request their name be removed from the voter's list. With that their name wouldn't be removes from voter lists. One might erroneously think that person doesn't vote. No matter what Nally was thinking it's a pattern with this UCP government to speak before thinking, to make assumptions, to pass along misinformation, to pass harmful legislation, and to disregard laws and the rights and wishes of Albertans when doing those things.
So one thing I’ve been tracking since this began is the margins by which each MLA won their seat by now before I go any further just know I am ready and willing to be proven wrong but in saying that I’m kinda in the camp of thinking only a handful of these recalls are likely to bear fruit at the electoral level, mostly those who won by margins in the low to mid-hundreds, if it’s anything above that I think it’s very likely those are the MLAs more than likely to get re-elected
Again I’m willing to be proven wrong but for now I guess what I’m saying is I’m tempering my expectations and even putting all of this aside one thing that will be curious to see is what Smith will do if it feels like she’s well and truly politically cornered because I know a lot of people are pointing to the possibility of her using the notwithstanding clause to dissolve the recall legislation but I think it's more likely she calls an election early
One thing I have noticed about Smith that backs this up is she's the type of politician who needs to maintain the facade of control, that everything is fine and anytime things get out of place she'll do something to forcibly recorrect the path and despite the recalls being used in a way the UCP hadn't intended, taking it away would be a political loss for them as their more ardent supporters would turn against her for doing it (unless of course they've changed their tune and want it dissolved now) so that in itself gives Smith even less of an option other than to call an election in my view

Respectfully I disagree. He should resign. If he doesn’t he has no honour.
Good point....totally agree.
But we both know there’s not one person in that whole party if grifting sociopaths that has any honour
The arrogance of the UCP is immeasurable! They are completely out of touch and authoritarian.
